The Derek White Award was presented to Christine Hall for “There’s Wally” - Mixed Media.

Christine said, “It was a last-minute decision to submit ‘There’s Wally’ into the exhibition. I was surprised it was selected and even more surprised that it won the award, but thrilled!”

The painting with its vibrant colours is loosely based on Padstow and ‘Wally the Walrus’ sinking the dinghy adds a really fun element to this piece.

The Mary Edyvean Award was presented to Neil McClung for “Les Fleurs” - Oils on Canvas.

Neil explained, “I was inspired to paint this after visiting a few galleries and seeing some Dutch and Flemish flower paintings. They used a lot of glazes to build up colour which produces a very vibrant effect.”

The Life Image Award was presented to Jill Roberts for ‘Life Drawing - Green Floor’ - Mixed Media

The Tommy Valentine Award was presented to Steve Whittaker for “Reflections of Life at a Slower Pace” - Acrylic on Canvas.

Steve began his painting just 3 weeks before the exhibition! - Steve explained, “I took a reference photo in Hebden Bridge, thinking it would be a great idea. However, I soon realized just how detailed and difficult it would be to paint. Despite the difficulties, if I can accept my mistakes, I do love what I’ve done. I completed the painting just in time for the Bury Art Society Annual Art Exhibition.”

Alison Adams was presented The David Swithenbank Award for White City, Ostoni - Watercolour and Ink.

An experiment that turned out to be a triumph! Alison’s take on the beautiful rooftop view looking towards Ostuni in Puglia. Alison’s aim was to capture the evening sunlight shining on the whitewashed city.

The Millennium Award was presented to Judy Turner for Referential Identity (with a Red Beret) - Soft Pastel.

Painting in the style of Modigliani from a free reference photo. Pastels and charcoal on the smooth side of Canson Mi-Teintes paper.
